Ants are known for their cleanliness, but a new study has made a surprising discovery: Ants have toilets in their nests. Tomer Czaczkes fed ants water with food colouring, and sure enough, areas of their nests turned blue and red. It's an unusual quirk for insects who usually remove all waste from their nests, and the reasons behind it will be the focus of a further study.
