Is a black panther truly "black"? You might be surprised to learn that the colour of their skin is actually a genetic mutation. Jaguars or leopards that would otherwise be considered "normal" actually pass on a genetic mutation which causes their offspring to develop a black appearance. However, black panthers are not truly black. Those placed underneath a bright light will still exhibit a slight hint of their proud spots.
