If you suffer from arachnophobia you're going to hate this: scientists have just discovered that there are cannibal pelican spiders in Madagascar.  Long believed to be extinct, these spiders have oddly shaped heads and huge jaws that make them look like pelicans. Also called assassin spiders, they don't spin webs - they prowl the forests at night, looking for other spiders to devour.
