Cape made with golden spider silk

  • Cape made of spider golden silk
How would the cape deal with the washing machine?

After employing a workforce of almost one hundred for seven years to harvest enough silk from more than one million Golden Orb spiders to make a cape, the two friends behind the eccentric scheme admitted it was so labor-intensive that it will probably never be repeated. The artcrafted piece was manufactured in Madagascar, where trained handlers would extract the silk of 24 harnessed spiders at a time. They were returned to the wild after each day, safe and sound.
