Madrid's iconic Cibeles Fountain is a stone's throw from the Bank of Spain. And 38 metres right underneath is the Bank's Chamber of Gold, containing extremely valuable gold reserves and old coins. Amazingly, the fountain serves as a security measure: should anyone break into the vault, the fountain's water would flood the rooms and corridors of the chamber making impossible the escape.
