Elephant ears serve many purposes, like body heat regulation under the hot African sun. Besides, they also communicate with other elephants by flapping their ears when they are happy or mad. Actually, their ears are so large and sensitive that they can hear other elephants from up to 8 kilometres away, to warn of impending danger. On top of that, each elephant has unique markings on their ears, just like our fingerprints.
