It is well known that polar bears have a thick coat of white fur that protects them and offers them camouflage against the snow. But, surprisingly, under all that fur these bears have black skin. The dark colour efficiently soaks up the warmth provided by the sunlight. Along with multiple layers of fat, this is how polar bears survive the coldest environments on Earth.
