There's much to be said for knowing thy neighbour, even if you're a Pansy, it would seem! Evolutionary biologist, Rubén Torices, observed kin recognition between related plants growing in proximity, with a tendency to produce larger blooms to attract pollinators. Known as the magnet-effect, individual plants can benefit from displaying neighbours, isn't that blooming marvellous!
