If you’re a burger fan, the Double Whopper may seem trivial when compared to Diego Buik’s gold-painted creation that sold for a staggering $2,314 to mark National Hamburger Day. As if luxury ingrendients such as Wagu beef, foie gras and Oosterschelde lobster weren’t grand enough, the Dutch chef finished off his elaborate recipe with a coating of gold – but cheekily remarked that he’d enjoyed better burgers for rather less money!
