While everyone knows of lightning being produced from the clouds, few are aware of the existence of ground-to-cloud lightnings. This can be a terrifying phenomenon when you encounter it for first time as it looks like hell has literally broken loose and is shooting flashes towards the heavens. Such lightnings occur when invisible negative charges are sent down from the clouds and upon impact with the positive objects on the ground, a return flash is shot from the ground up. By the way, tall buildings are mainly affected by these ones!
