Calico is a tricolour pattern of black, white, and orange and not a breed of cat. They're 99% female because coat color is a sex-linked physical characteristic trait. Females have two X chromosomes and can display orange or black and also white, while males only display orange OR black. Calicos are cute, but they'll still shred your couch.
