French painter Claude Monet (1840-1926) lived with financial troubles, as always happens among the artists, until he luckily won in 1890, 100,000 francs (13,000 dollars) in the national French Lottery. Thanks to this prize, around 338,000 of current dollars, he could freely do what he liked the most: wander around the French countryside painting amazing landscapes.
