Gérard Liger-Belair, champagne physicist, has quietly solved disputes about one of our favourite drinks. He's given champagne snobs a scientific reason to dissuade others from sipping champers from a plastic cup: hydrophobic plastic causes bubbles to stick to the cups' sides and inflate, reducing the flavour.  His book "Uncorked: The Science Behind Champagne" contains many more tips to help you enjoy the optimal champagne experience.
