Spare a thought for the poor kangaroo, who can’t walk backwards or even forwards without a whole lot of effort. These marsupials might be master hoppers, but their thick and muscular tails and long feet make walking a real chore. While the tail of the kangaroo acts as a kind of third leg, it is not very flexible and their motion is rather limited. It’s just as well they’re such good hoppers.
