Forests are rare in the arctic. However, a peculiar occurrence is the kelps forest which is found undersea. The forest is made of large brown seaweeds. It is surprising for marine plants to grow in the arctic environment, even more when they can grow up to 60cm a day!
The longest kelp in the forest was recorded to be 15 meters in Canada and the deepest one was recorded to be 60 meters deep. The species of the forest have adapted the cold temperatures.
