In medieval times, being left-handed was viewed by most right-minded people as evidence of witchcraft. Those sinister lefties were thought to be in league with the devil himself: the very mirror-image of all that was good and wholesome. In these more enlightened times, lefties get a break in most areas of life, but not in hockey, where (amazing as it may sound) left-handed sticks are illegal! The powers-that-be claim it’s all a matter of health and safety, to avoid that two opponents find themselves stick against stick.
