Toxic E. Colli can be detected in food in your fridge

It may sound like something out of Star Trek but a team from South Korea has developed a laser that can spot harmful bacteria on food. Research headed by Paul Park at the US-backed KAIST - Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology - promises to allow the fitting of inexpensive sensors to fridges, kitchen worktops and even mobile phones to counter harmful bacterial spread.
