Shark that cracks the whip to hunt

Thresher shark uses the tail as a whip
Douglas David Seifert
With the thresher shark, the real danger is at the tail end! This shark, native to the Pacific and Indian oceans, has a scythe-like tail that's often as long as its body. It can move this deadly appendage at speeds exceeding 30mph and whips it through a school of smaller fish, usually stunning or killing several. The shark then moves through the carnage, dining at a much more leisurely pace!
