In Ancient Egypt, an early treatment for migraines was the medical application of leeches. Perhaps that's why a Canadian landing at Toronto's Pearson Airport, with a suitcase packed with 5000 leeches, claimed that the Russian critters were for his personal use. Caught by the official Canada Customs eagle-eyed beagle, the hapless leech smuggler must have had one severe migraine! Problem is then..., what to do with the animals, which by the way are protected?
