Not for nothing are Spain's "mascletas" known as "noise fireworks". These pyrotechnics, hugely popular among Valencian community, are typified by a rhythm where the squeals and bangs of exploding firecrackers follow deep booms in an ear-splitting crescendo. The resulting sound waves are so powerful that they are felt throughout the body, meaning even deaf people can experience and enjoy the thunderous exuberance of this most Spanish of celebrations.
