When it comes to long-living vertebrates, the Greenland shark is king. It is thought they live beyond some incredible 400 years and reach an impressive five meters in length. However, they enjoy a fairly pedestrian lifestyle, swimming sluggishly in the deep North Atlantic waters, and taking 150 years to reach sexual maturity—patience is a strong point for this mysterious ocean colossus.
