Who said beautiful is peaceful? The beauty of Siamese fighting fish, commonly known as the betta, would make you think they are the most peaceful fish you've ever seen. Totally wrong! Siamese fish are highly territorial, especially the males who are easily provoked and prone to higher levels of aggression. Siamese fish fight each other to death. Males are never housed together and the females are always housed in big aquariums to reduce chances of fighting. Siam fighting fish are Thailand's national aquatic animal.
