Huddle to survive

Huddling as a way to survive the cold

When it is eighty degrees below, you find that you really do not mind so much about your neighbour's fishy breath or the press of his side against yours. In fact, you appreciate the contact and the body heat so much that you cuddle him right back! This is especially true if you are a male emperor penguin raising your chick from egg to fluffball. And you're happy to make a huddle in which the components rotate to allow everybody to enjoy the heat in the inside before they're freezing in the outer layer for too long.
