Mona's murals began as a social narrative about the challenges faced by inner city communities. Today San Francisco is blessed with many of her iconic "Weeds". Mona says that it is their resilience that inspires her. She sees persistence of beauty and growth in derelict and forgotten areas as a metaphor for hope. And the artistic result is just amazing!
