Every year billions of suicidal seeming sardines gather together off the coast of South Africa and head north to the Indian Ocean – and are massacred to a fish! The shoal, which can be up to seven kilometres long, is a beacon for predators. Dolphins, sharks, and gannets gorge themselves on the trapped sardines – in fact, you could say that they have them on toast!
