The villages of Viganella in Italy and Rjukan in Norway are both located in deep valleys, surrounded by mountains. So deep such that its residents miss seeing sun rays for as long as six months in a year! To light their dark winter months, the villages have built huge mirrors to track and reflect sunlight towards them. Viganella was the first to build its computer-controlled mirror in 2006, followed by Rjukan in 2013.
