As a theoretical physicist Einstein was a genius, as a sailor he was not so hot. Although Einstein sailed a lot, he never learned to swim, had many mishaps and sometimes even needed to be rescued. In spite of his shortcomings as a sailor what Einstein really looked for in sailing was solitude and a place to think.
