The second longest film in cinema’s history is called Cinématon, and has a duration of 11,160 minutes, which can also be translated into 186 hours or 7.75 days. That would mean a bit more than one week watching the same movie without even stopping to sleep or to go to the toilet!

It was the longest movie until Modern Times Forever was finished and published. The French director Gérard Courant, who dedicated his life to short films since the 70’s, directed Cinématon. Courant was able to capture on screen some curious or strange moments starring Samuel Fuller, Jean Luc Godard or even other artists, philosophers, journalists and anonymous people during his job.

The film is about merging almost 3,000 films made over 36 years by director Gérard Courant. He began recording in 1978 and the movie was completed in 2006 and consists of a total amount of 2,914 silent "cinematones". Each one of them lasts for 3 minutes and 25 seconds and gazes different celebrities, artists and friends. Each character performing as per their preferences.

It was first screened in Avignon in November 2009 and one second time on April 9, 2010 in Redondo Beach, California.
