Danish physicist Niels Bohr is best known for his pioneering work in the field of quantum mechanics – that is, the study of matter and light on an atomic and subatomic scale – for which he received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1992. However, in recognition of his work, Carlsberg, the global brewer headquartered in his hometown of Copenhagen, gave Bohr a house next door to its brewery. Better still, Carlsberg hooked up free beer, on tap, so Bohr could kick back with a cold one whenever he wanted.
